Makhana The Desi Snack for Immunity

Makhana is also called as “Fox seeds” or “Lotus seeds” come from a plant  Euryale Fox. This plant mainly grows in stagnant water. These Makhanas are often seen in snacks and delicacies. This blog “Makhana The Desi Snack for Immunity” is focused on the nutrition and facts on Makhana.

1. Cheese Makhana

Roast Makhana with 1tbsp of ghee. Roast it until it turns brown and adds black pepper and salt. Add Cheese powder to give a tangy taste to the Makhana. You can also add the masala.

2. Makhana and Mushroom Soup

Preparation:

  • Heat butter or oil in a pan and add onions.
  • Saute them till onions are perfectly golden brown.
  • Add mushrooms and makhana – Saute them for 1 minute.
  • Add a cup of flour (refined) and turn around the pan.
  • Turn off the stove and add milk to the pan while stirring (to avoid lumps).
  • Now turn on the stove and boil the mixture at a lower heat.
  • Add cream, salt, and chilies with some coriander.

3. Makhana Salad

Preparation:

Add fried makhana to corn, carrots, potatoes, and tomatoes. You can add salt and pepper for a good flavor.

4. Makhana Bhel

Add crunchy makhanas to onions, tomatoes, chilies, roasted peanuts. Add chili powder, chat masala and salt to the mixture. Squeeze half lemon and add your favorite chutney like Tamarind.
